Robbie's 9 Month Pics (from October 2017)

9 Months! More out than in. Doesn't seem possible. He's 16 lb 13.5 oz and 28 in long. For my PT friends: He can get 109* flexion on his left leg and 120* on his right one. His arm can get 30* flexion.

The spinal MRI results came back that he does NOT have a tethered spinal cord, just some incidental findings related to his borderline Chiari malformation. He is starting to bear more of his weight in a standing position and sit for longer periods of time on his own. During his adaptive swim sessions with the kinesiology students at TWU he stares at the lifeguard until she notices and smiles back at him, at which point he starts kicking and squealing with excitement. I now call him Squints. 😂⚾

Disclaimer: He toppled over 2 seconds after the first pic and knocked his head on the floor, cried, and now he's asleep. 😥 Very much still a work in progress!

Look at that sitting with the weight of the leg braces helping to hold him up!

For Meagan and Ken, who love Batman like this family loves baseball. This was Gideon's onesie:

Baseball: Mets and Rangers

It's opening weekend for my favorite ⚾️ players. Dylan got the game ball and Colt got 2 out of the 3 defensive outs of the game and hit off the coach without needing the tee. ❤️ watching them play! And those uniforms are 👌🏻#mets #rangers

G-ma's Visit for Robbie's 2nd Surgery (from Sept 2017)

Sherrie-Kaye Holdaway Miller and I arrived at noon with Robbie and he is now in surgery, with his spinal MRI to follow. It took 2 anesthesiologists 14 tries to get his IV going, so I'm really glad he was already asleep for all of the poking. Mom left to go get the boys from school earlier and I'm hanging out in the Prayer Garden, settled in for an hour or two of waiting until Stevan Autrey Duke joins me after work.
In the meantime, happy 8 months to my sweet baby, who balanced in a sitting position on his own for the first time on Friday during Play to Learn. ❤️

***10 pm update: We are just now leaving the hospital parking garage to go home. Surgery went well but he's not feeling so great and hasn't eaten much today. MRI results in a day or two. Makes me nervous 30 minutes stretched into 1 hr and 45 min. Wish I knew why it took so long to get the images. Hope we all can get some sleep tonight! On the docket for tomorrow: Snuggling all day long!

Dallas Temple and Six Flags: Two dates on back to back nights! It's a miracle! That's more than we've been on in the last year and a half...or more, because we literally can't remember our last date. Sad. Thanks sooo much Sherrie-Kaye Holdaway Miller for hanging out with the boys. Oh, and no one tell them where we went tonight without them! #dirtylittlesecret #coastersmakemehappy #ivoteGmastaysintexas

G-ma: 🎶 "...when I'm not with you, I'm blue. Oh, Dylan, I love you." 🎶
Dylan: "G-ma, I think I'm going to be blue tonight after you go back home." 💔

The happiness during her visits is always worth the heartache after she leaves. Thanks for the help and fun memories! See you and dad in 71 days!

Random Post around Labor Day 2017

Six Flags is having a Flash Sale this weekend for 75% off season passes. For the same price as a one day ticket, we just got unlimited admission to Six Flags, Hurricane Harbor, and free parking...until the end of 2018!!! Roller coasters make me ridiculously happy. Best therapy around! And even more awesome with friends! Looking forward to all the fun we'll have!
Oh, sort of funny Dylanism today:
D, reading the sign at Joker: "Mom, you can't ride this if you're pregnant."
Me: "I know. It's ok because I'm not."
D, looking at my belly in my maternity pants with concern: "Yeah, but they might not let you on because you still kind of look like you are."
Me: "This is a spin-y ride. I hope daddy throws up on you."
Let's just say my little coaster buddy learned a valuable lesson in social etiquette. 🤦🏼‍♀️#outofthemouthofbabes #toohotoutsideforspanx #25poundstogo
