Autrey and Matt took the boys to a Rangers game on Sept 27 while Allyson and I were at the Women's General Broadcast:
Tyler cracks me up:
Colton passed out while running errands. He wouldn't let me wash off that horse tattoo from the Rangers game for a week:
We pulled up next to a fire truck at a gas station and we got an impromptu tour from a very nice fireman while we both filled up:
Practicing with their new LEFT-HANDED mitts in their muscle shirts:
Playing in the mud with Giovanni:
We found a huge caterpillar in the garden. (Dylan likes to pretend to be Autrey. His arm is not hurt):
Feeding the ducks at The Music Park with our twin friends, Emilyn and Bristyn:
Ready to ride back to the park:
Pit stop at the cougar statues:
Deep meditation during General Conference:
Colton is a very active sleeper. Always moving:
Freddy's frozen custard after we went on a park adventure:
Sleepy cougar with his favorite Duckie:
1st dentist appointment with Dr. McAnthony:
He held his backhoe loader and did great. Still waiting on his 2 year molars. Unfortunately, both boys will probably need braces when they are older like Autrey did. I hope they won't ever have a cavity like him too:
Dylan:
*Dylan is obsessed with the little Legos, though we don't have any yet. Hopefully he will get some for his birthday. He loves to play with Tommy's Legos at his house. He built a Lego tower and said, "I'm building a surveillance tower." Fantastic.
*While watching baseball on TV with Autrey one of the pitchers had really curly hair. He said, "That guy has hair like my cousin Tyler. There must be 2 Tylers."
*Dylan keeps talking about "when he gets a dog when he's older." When we drive past the dog park on the way to Autrey's softball games he always asks to stop and play fetch with the dogs.
*Driving home from preschool, Dylan waves at his classmate, Kate, and says, "Kate speaks my language." I asked him if any of the other kids did too. "No, just Kate."
Dylan is pretty good at reading "I", "like," and "the." They are the first 3 words from his sight words list they have worked on at school and we have pointed out in his books at home.
*This week I made 20 Spiderman masks as favors for Dylan's party next month. It took me 3 days to make them in my spare time. (Read: There was no free time. The kids played by themselves a lot and Autrey took them on adventures when he got home.) He is so excited for his party.
*Today the boys were wearing the masks and after Colton took his off Dylan said very seriously, "No one wants to see your real face, Colt. Put on your Spiderman mask."
*Dylan is such a good boy, especially at school and around other people. But lately he and Colton have been either best friends or mortal enemies. It's not all Dylan's fault though. Colton is no saint. Not a fan of the attitudes and fighting. Drives me crazy sometimes.
Colton:
*9/21: Colton went poop in the potty himself for the 2nd time ever. Hasn't done it since. During Conference we tried out a day in underwear. He went pee pee in the potty more, but still had an accident. I just need to have him go in underwear full time, but I am way too busy right now and we are traveling too much to give it the attention it needs. Hopefully by the beginning of the year it will happen.
*While watching Conference, President Monson came on and we asked him who it was. He said, "Jesus." Close, buddy. Then Dylan corrects him and he then says, "Peh-sent Monson."
*C: "I don't want to get thrown out the window. Throw Dylan out." Such love.
*Colton put on the shark tooth necklace from Mimi and started singing the song "I'm so fancy." Dylan then started to sing, "I'm not fancy" without a necklace on.
*Colton is especially obsessed with dogs. Brindee and Wes Blue started doing a Date Night babysitting swap with us and they said Colton followed their dog, Max, around most of the night.
*He has become very attached to his stuffed yellow Duckie Meagan Kemp gave him. He sleeps with it and I have to tuck Duckie under the blanket with Colton when he sleeps. He only takes one short nap these days, by the way.
*The morning before the boys went to the Rangers game we went on a family hike off of 377. While helping Dylan walk a narrow path above a gross black water pond I slipped, cut myself up really bad falling down the hill, and went into the nasty pond water up to my neck. So awful. I had to sit in that water forever (read: about 5 minutes) with visions of water snakes dancing in my head until Autrey got a rope and fished me out. It was really funny once I got out. Autrey said it was easily one of the top 5 funniest things he's ever seen to watch me fall spread eagle in slow motion calling, "NOOOOOO!!!" and went all the way into the water that looked to be only 1 ft deep. The cuts on my torso and legs weren't too bad. But it really hurt and took my arm an entire week before the scab was able to form and stay on (it would rip off while sleeping, or Colton would accidently kick it while I was changing his diaper, or when I straightened my arm). I also had to take antibiotics for an infection I got. Super fun. Now anytime we go on a hike or get near water Colton reminds me how I fell in the water. Made a big impact on him to see me "almost die in the swamp" as Dylan said.
