Summer Fun with Mimi and Papa

The day after school got out/our 11th anniversary, we drove down to Houston so the boys and I could spend a week with Mimi and Papa.  Hayley had the flu, so she and Allyson stayed home.  The boys were always up at the crack of dawn, if not before, full of energy. We went to Chuck E. Cheese's, Bouncing Bears, and to the park.  But mostly we swam and swam and swam. Mimi and I were plumb tuckered out by the end of the week.  One night Papa took them to Chik-fil-A, mini-golfing, and to Baskin Robbins while Mimi and I got our nails done and had a quiet dinner by ourselves.  That was nice.  I was so exhausted after the drive home I came home and slept for 2 days straight.  Then I got a stomach bug and didn't leave the house another 2 days until I went to the doctor. Wowza.  Glad the boys had fun!

Dylan jumping off the diving board without a life jacket and swimming all the way to the shallow end:

Colton did try to swim without a life jacket in the shallow end to be like the big boys.  It didn't end so well.  He was so sad.  Maybe next year, buddy!
Tyler jumping off the diving board without a life jacket:
Tommy jumping off the diving board and swimming to the shallow end:
The boys in their Super Line, jumping into the water:

G-ma sent the boys these towel robes.  They kinda look like little boxers in them.  They love wearing them.  And they happen to match the suits Mimi got them too.
Cooling off with popsicles after bike riding:

Doug came up from Houston, and Mona and Buster drove from Ruidoso this last weekend to be here for Tyler's water party and Father's Day weekend.  Mona and Buster ended up staying this week while Matt was in England, France, and Italy for work to help Allyson, so the boys played together a lot this week too.
Next week we will drive to Ruidoso to spend time up there, so they don't have to say good-bye for long!

Update

Dylan made this snake all by himself...so he could put it by the door to scare Autrey when he came home from work.  Definitely supported that project:
At the Book Fair:
At Ms. Mandy's preschool:
  Open House, Dylan's self portrait:
The 1st 120 people at the Grand Opening in March won a free sandwich per week for a year, with purchase of a half dozen Cinnabons.  I felt like I was cheating on my mom's cinnamon rolls, but it was for a good cause:
At one of the 6 week assemblies Dylan was named the High Flyer for his class, received a PE award, hit his million word challenge goal for reading, and had perfect attendance so far all year (He ended up never missing a day all year):

St. Patty's Day fun:

We ate lunch with Dylan at school.  Tricky leprechaun had turned all of his food green, and drew a rainbow on his orange:

At Ms. Tiffany's day camp during Spring Break the day after we flew home from Florida:

The neighborhood wandering turkey decided to hang out on our truck:

Dylan's Jaguar zoo project.  During his oral presentation he stopped to tell the class how Colton called the peccary a "pecker":
Marbles in camo:
My cute boys:

Hungry Caterpillar craft at Carra's house:
Mother's Day was awesome - Pancakes with "I love you, mom" cooked into the top, snuggling with my boys, gifts of a sunflower plant and a cookie bouquet from school...and a nap!  Autrey splurged and cooked a dinner of steak and shrimp, corn, pineapple, chocolate covered strawberries, and cheesecake.  That is why he's my person.  He speaks my food language.  And my kids are pretty amazing.  They make me happy to be a mom:

 Master builders:
With my dear friend, Stephanie Madsen, at her debut album party:

Our fence didn't survive a storm.  The other fence had been beat up by the other neighbor's dogs, so it was time for Autrey to replace all 3 sides.
Michael and Jimmy were big helps.  Such great neighbors!

  Looks pretty good:

Aut: "I've been out here too long and I'm too tired to smile for your picture."  Fair enough.  Carry on:
Wood from the first 2 sides:
I got a great deal on annual passes to LEGOLAND Discovery in Grapevine, and we went on Memorial Day weekend for the first time:
They raced the cars they built themselves:

Driving the cars on the track:

 Lego R2-D2:
 Lego Dirk Nowitzki:
 Lego Pirate Beach:

 Workout group:

Probably one of the better workouts we did was...
*100 push ups
*100 sit-ups
*100 hamstring curls
*100 pull-ups (weighted, for ease)
*100 air squats
*300 Bob punches
*1,000 meter row
Beating on Bob.  It's probably bad how much I love punching him:
100 Burpees to end a workout:

Stephen: "Bonus round for today's workout...run to the end of the street and back, then 100 sit-ups!"
Heather: "You wanna run together?"
Me: "Sure...but if you try to beat me I'll burn you!"
Heather and I are just a bit competitive. She's the best motivator!
Colton helping Heather reach the handle during her oblique sit-ups:
Our final workout before Stephen and Stephanie Madsen moved to CA for him to start dental school.  It was a sad good-bye after 1.5 years of gym therapy:
Ms. Marissa brought us an arsenal of Ethan's Nerf guns and swords he has outgrown for the boys to play with.  They were excited!
Summer movie time with the Breinholts while I was at a Dr appointment last week:

Update since the last one on 2/26:

Dylan:
*After explaining what an "expert" is, he decided he's a Lego expert, Colton is a playing expert, Aut is a work expert, and I am the expert of everything.  I'll take it!

*D pointing to his belly: "I think I found the weight that dad lost!"

*Dylan is into the TM and R (registered trade mark) on products for some reason.  He looked in the grocery cart and said, "Someone else called their company Great Value too!!!"  I had to explain it WAS the same company, just different products.

*Autrey accidentally pelted Dylan with a ball while playing catch.  D got upset and yelled, "We are NOT friends!"

*D: "I'm a great secret keeper.  I keep secrets until I die." (He's totally my kid!)

*Dylan loves to draw and create paper walkie-talkies, iPads, homing beacons, etc...

*D: "Can we practice tennis? My PE teacher is doing a tennis unit every day."

*While eating shrimp on Mother's Day...
  C: "Are those lobster tails?"
  Aut: "No, shrimp tails."
  Me: "I've eaten lobster before."
  D: "When? The 1950s?"

*D: "This soup is so frankin' hot!"
Aut: "That is so frankin' funny!"

*I was speaking in Spanish to Autrey about dessert options when D told me: "Mom, talk in Texas language."

*D: "Colt, if you do that it's not going to end well!"  (Wonder where he's heard that?  Haha.)

*Dylan read James 1:5 in Primary all by himself after only practicing it on the way to church.

*Dylan: "I like to eat (raw) red, orange, and yellow peppers like G-ma.  And I have green eyes like G-ma."

*D: "When I grow up and be a dad, I will move away.  To G-ma's house."

*I gave both boys a Dip Stick candy from their Valentine's day stash.  Their reactions:
D: "This feels like love.  I'm going to get married tomorrow."
C: "MY MOUTH'S ON FIRE!!!"  Too sour for him!

Colton:
4 year old check up
Height: 43 in, 95%
Weight: 42.4 lb, 90%
Blood pressure: 106/62 (He and I have the same blood pressure!)

*We reintroduced the Don't Eat Pete game for FHE.  Colton was by far the best one! (And we weren't even cheating for him!)

*I gave Dylan some red and orange peppers.
  Aut: "Whatcha eating?"
  Colt piped up: "Dr. Peppers!"

*C: "I love Dylan.  He fixes my Legos.  He's a masterpiece."  Me: "You mean Master Builder?"

*C at the store yells: "Look, it's Virgin!" D: "Vision, Colt.  His name is Vision." (Avengers character)

*Colton praying: "...Thank you for...my socks, my eyes, nose..."

*Colton can wipe his own bum after he poops without me checking!  Big deal for us!

*C: "Mom, you're the best cooker ever."  After I made him a pb&j.  Haha.

*C: "I'm going to throw this away.  I dropped it on the floor."
Me: "No.  Eat it.  The floor's clean.  Plus, it's a vitamin.  It'll keep you from getting sick."  Now accepting nominations for Mother of the Year. :)

*Listening to The Eagles sing "Take it to the Limit" on the way to baseball practice and Colton asks, "Are we at the limit?"

*Both boys are loving swimming lessons at Trophy Club pool (level 1 and 2 again)!

The Parents:
*I coached the Beehive team and the Mia Maid/Laurel basketball teams this spring.

*We refinanced our home loan to help keep up with all of my medical bills/fertility costs/ridiculous insurance costs/stuff breaking.

*Nana broke her hip and had to have replacement surgery.  We fasted and prayed for her!

*We've had the sister missionaries over for dinner lately.  I like having sister missionaries!

*Carra and I gave a friend of ours a Gospel Principles book during a conversation at playgroup.

*For April Fools Autrey tried to trick me by calling and saying the car broke down and needed to be towed.  Not too far fetched for a '93 Pontiac Bonneville, but I didn't fall for it.  That was before the truck needed a new transmission.  Not a joke.

*Aut: "You know you bought HOT jalapenos, right?"
Me: "Yup.  That ok, princess?"  I crack myself up.  And, yes, I can handle those now.  And love them!

*Aut was making no-bake cookies.  He was reading the recipe and said, "Could you get me the cuh-cow?"  Me: "Also known as cocoa?"

*Allergies have messed all 4 of us up this season.  Everyone in Texas is struggling with them.  Oy!

*We celebrated our 11 year anniversary by going to Olive Garden with the boys to celebrate Kinder graduation.  So romantic.  Scheduling conflicts got in the way of our other plans.  At least we got 12 hours to ourselves last year on our first overnight date!  By our 15 year I want to have an entire anniversary weekend to ourselves.  Goals...
