(Non) Functional Fireplace

If you were patient enough to actually read all of my last post (Hi, grandparents!) you know that one of Dylan's favorite places to stash his toys is the fireplace, much to my chagrin. We tried to barricade it with the coffee table, but Dylan would climb on it and stand, which was even worse:So, Autrey spray painted some cardboard and used black duct tape to close off the fireplace. It doesn't look too ghetto, right? I don't care if it does, because I don't have to clean the toys as much and we were able to move the coffee table into a different room so Dylan has more room to play. It makes the room feel big...or at least bigger. Dylan quickly figured out his toy spot was foiled: He was fine with the redecorating...
...and turned his attention to another toy: mommy's camera.

What lengths have you had to go to when babyproofing and/or petproofing?

  1. You're absolutely right I read all the blogs!! One year we put the Christmas tree in the playpen. Most times we just didn't have fireplaces, live plants and we had locks on drawers, doors and doorknobs. And we had gates for stairs. PS. So is he having flashbacks of baseballs breaking glass???
